Being a collector of models for over 18 years you think you have seen some great ones come out... And then you get something that just blows your mind..
This is the one, Machiko Noguchi from the Aliens vs Predator Video games. The model kit created from the very talented mind of Michael Rodriguez is fantastic.. I cannot express how dynamic this kit is.. The model is a fantastic diorama Of Machiko giving the killing blow to a Xenomorph. Now let me talk about the actual kit,, the keying is excellent, every seam is hidden and everything is tight fitting. It might not seem that way from the pics that's because I used putty to hold it in place. The model consist of about 20 parts. The print came out excellent, the details are nice and crisp.. This was printed using a 4k machine with dedicated resin to make sure all the textures came out. Once primed and painted this will be an amazing show stopper...
This is an award winning model kit.. Wait did I not talk about the base!!! The base, done in 2 parts weighs about 3 lbs You need to take a look at the base, it has so much going on it is a kit unto itself.
There is so much carnage and dead parts, the base will keep you busy for a while. Michel as an artist just keeps growing and getting better at what he does and with this latest offering it shows how his hard work has paid off.. I do not expect run of the mill work and models coming from him. This model kit is for the collector and the person who enjoys a challenge and something different.
Be Forewarned this model kit is not for the faint of heart.. This is a 3D resin print. It will have like all materials in making models slight imperfections. These imperfections does not mar the model in anyway and with the knowledge of modeling can be worked out of the kit. A big percentage of the models are hollowed out, that are what the drain holes are for and some pieces can be solid also.
The drain holes can be puttied in and sanded to match. The models are printed no less than 2mm walls so they are thick. All models go thru a post-production process with sanding and using fillers for any defect that can be found, sometimes they can get over looked. I try to put in your hands a model that is ready to prime and paint.
Color of resin and filament may vary. Anytime you want a tighter fit, the resin part can be heated up with hot water or a hair dryer and it will make it easier to take a better shape. Just don't overdo it. Filament is a plastic substance that prints in lines and build up the 3D print. In order to fill some of the visible lines, a filler needs to be used, like wood filler or any Substitute primed and Sanded.
I have heard that Badger makes a 2 part primer that works very well and from Smooth On a product called XTC which is an epoxie overlay. If you are not comfortable going through these steps, maybe this model is not for you. This item is in the category "Toys & Hobbies\Models & Kits\Figures".
